  1. The advice that Mr. King gives is very valuable. It is very true that with a can do attitude and the will to never give up you can tackle nearly every problem that life throws at you. In my writing I often find it hard to get started. I try not to give up on the paper I persevere. Once I trudge through the begining I get into the meat and potatoes of the paper and then its hard to pull me off of the topic. Mr. King mentions that we must have the attitude that there is a solution out there we just have to be willing to go out on a limb, take our time, persevere and find it. This is helpfull to me in more than just my writing but in every lefe scenario that i come upon. I agree with Mr. King that we need the key component to success and that is perseverence.

  2. Mr. King gives very good advice in this article. Perseverance is one of the best traits a person can have. It is not only useful for writing a paper, but in life too. For your paper, it is important not to give up and keep going. If somebody has so helpful criticism for your paper, don’t immediately write them off and don’t listen to them. Listen to what they have to say and use the advice to make your paper stronger. In life Mr. King’s advice is also helpful. You never want to be known as a quitter. No matter how tough it is you always want to fight through it and keep going toward your goal. Your dreams won’t work unless you do. Everybody has dreams. You can’t reach those dreams unless you have perseverance and can get through all the adversity. There wouldn’t be a better feeling in the world than knowing you reached your dream.

  3. I like the way that King words his article all around the word persevere. The way this article relates to my writing process is that I need to keep moving on it. I cannot just dilly-dally and think that my paper will get done for me. I need to get a move on and write it. I also need to remember that after I get done to look over it and check for my mistakes because everyone will have mistakes on a draft. I also need to have the mind set that I can do anything as long as I put my heart towards it. The thing that relates to me most is that I need to remember that I need to remember to never give up, even if things are not going that well I need to move through it and get past it. Anything is possible. As long as I believe it is possible anything can happen. (WC-159)

  4. Perseverance is the thought or goal of finishing something and not giving up. Jawara King did a sufficient job on his article. He sure does follow perseverance based off his article. Jawara King finished, although writing a paper takes a little more than just perseverance. Nearly the entire second paragraph of Jawara King’s article lacked a “space” after each sentence. That’s sad, but it’s alright because Jawara King is a pretty cool name. I show respect for Jawara King for his efforts and showing others how to be persevere. I like the idea of never giving up and doing whatever it takes to finish what is started––being persevere. More people in the world should use Jawara’s advice. Perseverance actually refers to me in many ways, like learning new drum music, I practice and practice until it is perfect. I use perseverance, but I make my work perfect, unlike Jawara King’s second paragraph.(153)

  5. Mr.King give very simple, but very simple advice, persevere. So many times in writing when I am stuck or lost I simply stop writing. It’s so hard to see what I will write when the path isn’t there but King write about how you have to go and push forward. Find your drive, find the paper, and not to give up. A simple but useful thing to do is to walk away for a while and come back with a new perspective. Look at the goal from all angles and find the answer. In my writing I stop and look at my wording and all the possible ways that I can write a sentence so that it sounds the best. He stressed that the most important thing isn’t talent, or ability, or education but the ability to keep going and not to let yourself be stopped when you’re stuck or lost. WC - 151

  6. The piece of advice that would affect me the best would be "Persistence and determination supersedes genius, education, and talent. " I like all the advice given in this article, but I enjoy this one the most because I connect to it. I too believe that persistence and determination can outplay most talent. I believe that as long as you try, you WILL succeed, but the level of success can only be assessed by you. King also suggested that if you fail, try again with a different method. I like this advice a lot because I have done this with the research paper. I wrote and rewrote the thesis statement at leas half a dozen times until it made sense with the rest of the introduction, and also flowed well into the rest of the paper. I had to think of different approaches to my subjects, and in the end I created a good, strong thesis. King has great advice for life in general, and I hope that others will remember that persistence is key to success.(177)

  7. I think that perseverance is very important when it comes to writing, and according to this article Mr. King believes the same thing. When we are given writing assignments in class we may not want to write that certain prompt, but we have to. We have to get through what we think we can’t do and just do it. For me personally the advice to persevere comes in when I am told to write poetry. For so long I was terrified because I did think I could make anything rhyme, but I took creative writing and got past that thought. I stuck it out and on the first day I learned that not all poetry had to rhyme. I ended up learning so much from that class about what kind of writer I am, and if I ‘d given up I would have missed out on a lot and would have never grown as a writer. Word Count: 156

  8. I think this is a great article to read. It would be a good read after something that sets you back in life happens. It will help you get through all of your problems if you never give up like the athour said. This relates to my life when it comes to sports. No matter how bad you are losing you can never give up, because you can pull a comeback out of nowhere and get the W. This relates to my paper because I want to stop writing because I’m tired of it, but at the same time I need to get it done. This never giving up will help me get my paper wrote on time and in an A+ form. You will achieve every one of your dreams if you listen to Mr. King’s advice and never give up. I plan to never give in to any of my goals in life

  9. First of all, I would like to say that the first two paragraphs in that article made me want to bang my head against the table because of the repetitiveness. But I think Mr. King's advice is valuable in every scenario. When I am writing a paper, especially the intro, I tend to struggle. But once I push through and finish my introduction, then it is usually smooth sailing. I believe his best piece of advice in the article is that if you believe a problem cannot be solved, it makes that problem unsolvable. This is true for everything, including my writing process, because if you go in with the attitude that writing a 7-10 page paper is impossible, it will be hard to finish. All in all, this article taught a good lesson which is that you should never give up on your dreams or goals, because then they are impossible to accomplish.

  10. This advice can really help everyone in his or her life. It can relate to all aspects of your life and is very important to remember. This article can relate to writing processes as well. I think that if you are persistent in your writing endeavors that you can be successful and even write for many different people like Mr. King, the author of this story, did. You have to really want to succeed and put everything you have into your work. He explains that you can accomplish anything and be successful if you persevere. In my process, I could definitely be more persistent on my papers and essays. Sometimes, I don’t want to put all my effort into something so I don’t. I need to be more persistent like this guy says and I will be able to accomplish anything I set my mind to. Perseverance will pay off with anything you do. (Word Count: 156)

  11. I think that the concept of Kings’ writing is a noble, notable, and necessary character trait for not only every writer, but every person. I have to give King an A for effort and a C+ for excision. King put forth a valiant effort to construct a good piece of writing and I am sure he had to use his perseverance to over come the many struggles that a writer faces––writers block, fear of criticism, and just out right failure––but, sometimes your own perseverance will be your own worst enemy. Perseverance becomes your worst enemy when you ego comes before the firing squad. I have seen this happen in many of my own writings. I become overly defensive about my ideas and to overcome all the criticisms about my writings––start the worst habit that young writers have––I vomit all my information as hard and fast as I can and use so much repetition that end you shooting myself in the foot, instead of proving my points. So yes perseverance is an important quality to have, but you must keep your emotions at arms length. (Word Count: 188)

  12. Mr. King gives very good detailed advice for everyone to learn from, but the real test is to see who is the strong and can actually learn from this. I really liked his advice giving that you can never give up on anything. You have to set your mind straight, yeah you might have bumps in the road but you have to get over them. He said that you will go through stress and have to change a thing or two to make your end result happen but in the end you will happy with what happens. Writing for is hard but the hardest part is starting it, I think about how I am going to start the story and it takes forever. But, like Mr. King said you have to keep pushing through the pain and stress of it to have the excitement of your work at the end. Like I said anybody can read this and move on it takes the strong ones to go forth and put in some effort for what they want. Word count 177
