BLOG DUE FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 14th.
1. The two rules I feel that we use is to write the story then let it sit and then reread it to make changes. The other rule we use is when we reread it to take out what doesn’t need to be there.
ReplyDelete2. My favorite rule is the one that says to just get to the point and don’t waste the readers time.
3.idea number one, is that he would say is to write what you believe in its your opinion and everyone has there own opinion.
Second idea, is to never repeat information repeating information would get boring then you would lose the readers interest.
Last idea is to love what your writing about you cant write about something that bores you.
This article gave me a head ache. The author, Henrik Edberg, must have chosen the wrong role model. If Henrik was following Stephen Kings’ guidelines, then Stephen King must be a horrid writer. I have never read anything from Stephen King, but after I read one of his “fan-boy” articles, I plan on never reading anything by Mr. King. Henrik’s writing method seems that of an elementary school student. I honestly think that none of these rules will apply to my writing. Basically because I must write a seven to ten page essay that is due at the end of this term. I need plenty of writing, so no cutting down text. I have limited time, so no “letting a piece of paper rest.” And I am going to care what others say, I want my essay to be good so I will need opinions. My favorite tip is to write a lot. This is interesting to me because tip three is don’t write a lot, and tip seven is write a lot. My mind has been twisted and puked on after reading this article. Stephen King, based off of this article, would probably tell me to go to google.com, punch in random letters, be honest, find Henrik’s article, print it out and file it away for 3 months, and then ask a person like me what I think about it, I’ll tell him I hate it, and he will publish it as a book. ReplyDeleteI think that out of King's tips, we would use Get to the Point and Cut Down Your Text. My favorite rule is the one that tells us to write our text and then to let it sit before we edit it. I like this tip the most because when we would go back to our writing, we would be able to look at our text with clear, non-prejudice minds. If Mr. King could give me three more tips, I believe he would tell me to write only about things that interest me to avoid being boring, to carefully write with enough emotion to be interesting, but not too much to overwhelm my readers, and to remove any excess information that repeats or is redundant in any way to prevent my readers from criticizing my work based off of grammar or writing style.(143)
ReplyDeleteThe two tips that I think I will need to apply while I am writing my research paper is that I will most likely need to cut down on my text and be relatable and honest. I think that I will need to do this during my research paper because there is a great possibility that I am going to wonder off topic and not relate things to my topic. I will also have things to cut out. My favorite tip of his is to write a draft, then let it rest. I like this tip because everyone thinks that their first draft will almost be perfect or is perfect to them. But if they let it sit for a day and would reread it, their opinion about that paper will most likely change. Write about something that you are interested in so that you will want to write about it. Take your time and do not rush, because if you rush when you go back over it you will have to fix a lot more. Make sure you have other people look over your work, because they will be able to catch things in the paper that you did wrong that you did not catch. (WC-206)
ReplyDeleteI think that the two rules that are important for research writing are being relatable and honest and to get to the point. My favorite rule is to let your work sit for a little while. When I come back to a work that I’ve written it always seems different than when I was writing it. Sometimes I have a what-was-I-thinking moment and other times I take pride that I wrote it. I believe that King would tell me to get to the point of the paper. No body wants to read a long wording and often confusing paper. State your intent and support and end it. Be precise in writing. Always use accurate detail and don’t be wordy in your writing. This is factual writing you aren’t making a story out of it. Finally King would tell me to read it over and over to find if I can follow the thinking. This is much like his let your writing sit method—If you can’ follow your own thoughts others probably can’t either. Word Count—174
ReplyDeleteI feel like the two most important rules are both to both cut down on you writing and to get to the point. I feel like these are important because they go hand-in-hand and you should never ramble on and on cause the reader will lose interest and miss all the work you put in. My favorite rule would be the read more because I LOVE to read and I have never met a bad book. I could sit down and read entire books straight to the end and never be bored, I love to dive into a good book and read it till the end. I feel like he would try to pound into the writers mind to not ramble and to get to the point with fewer words. (130)
ReplyDeleteI feel like you can use every one of these writing tips in your research paper. They all can help improve your paper and help you write it more efficently. My favorite tip is to let your draft rest. It breaks it up and makes it seem less daunting. Plus, it allows you do other things and not spend so much time on your paper. I would suggest to writers to read a lot. Reading not only improves your writing, but also improves many other things. Also, I would suggest to take breaks. People overwhelm themselves way to much and just need to take a step back and relax. Finally, I would suggest to get to the point. I hate it when people spend too much time on the background. It is just a waste of time. Just get to the point.

I think the two rules that apply the most to research writing are writing a lot and read a lot. I think it is important to read other people’s work in order to improve your own writing. Also, it is important to read as much as possible about your topic so you can write a well educated paper. It is good to do a research paper on something you are interested in and know a lot about but you still need to look some things up in order to get your facts right. My favorite tip is to take a break between your rough draft and final essay. I think that if you put it out of your mind, you can come back and edit it better than you could right away. I think he would recommend cutting down on your text because no one likes a wordy, unnecessarily long essay. Also, don’t care what others think is another one, because you have to write what you want, not what others think. Get to the point is a good one too. This goes with cutting down on your text and is important because of the same reasons. Word Count: 199
ReplyDeleteThe two rules that I feel that most apply to our research papers would be getting to the point and cutting down the text. In our research paper it would be very easy to tail off and to butter uo our text with tons of insight and background information however that takes time and is boring. Also we could write for days on our topics but we need to cut down the text to keep our readers interest. I feel that Mr. King would emphasize the getting to the point for in research it is never ending but you need to get your point down and move on. Also I think he would push for cutting down the text for research papers can get lengthy. He would also emphasize the reading for that is how you get better knowledge on your topic.

I think that the two rules that are very important when writing a research paper are get to the point and cut down your text. I picked these because I find that I may try to use unnecessary things in my paper just to make it longer, and even though this works I think that it hurts the over all out come. My favorite rule is don’t care too much about what others think. This is my favorite because it is so true. Some people may not write something because they are afraid what people may say about it. How is this your problem? People seldom agree on anything, and the people who do agree with you will probably stand behind you. I think that Stephen King would use the following three rules: Check your sources if they seem a little sketchy do not use them, check your topic if you don’t find it interesting then your paper will probably flop and you will not enjoy writing it, and check your citations because your paper would become garbage if you plagiarize and no one will take you seriously. ReplyDeleteThe two tips that I feel apply best for research papers are getting to the point and cutting down on text. Both of them have to do with making the paper short and concise, which is good because people probably don't want to waste too much time reading a research paper. My favorite tip was the write a draft, then let it sit. Often times when I review my own paper I do it shortly after writing it, so everything looks like it is good. If you sit on it though, then you won't have the exact same thoughts in your head. The first tip I think King would suggest is to find good, reliable sources because that makes your paper valid. Next, I think he would tell you to take breaks, because writing papers are boring, so if you take a break you won't be as bored. Lastly, I think he would say to cite your sources because if you don't then you will be punished for copying someone else's work.

I think that don’t care what other think is a good one because it is your topic and who cares if someone doesn’t agree with you or thinks your topic is dumb. You like it that’s all that matters. And the second rule is, be honest in what you are writing about. Don’t just throw random thinks in your paper because you think they are true. That’s like calling someone out for thinking they did something wrong.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite rule is the cut out the bad text. I think that if you get your point across then you shouldn’t have a page requirement. Why write a paper you can get your point across in 2 pages but you have to make it 5 pages. This just doesn’t make sense to stretch it that long.
Idea 1- “Do your own thing” don’t try to do something someone else already had. Go out on a limb and try something never tried before.
Idea 2- “Don’t use too much from an article” You could get in trouble for plagiarism. (BAD)
Idea 3-“Have others ceck your work” Everyone has there own informal slang. Your partner will pick up on things you should change that you think are correct.
